IV NUTRIENT THERAPY for DISEASE TREATMENT AND PREVENTION, ENERGY ENHANCEMENT AND LONGEVITY, IMPROVED SURGERY OUTCOME
DIRECT CELLULAR NUTRITION
Surgeons were the first to use IV nutrient therapy many years ago to improve post-operative healing and the trend continues to this day with numerous studies showing better surgical results. Strong immunity and wound healing depend on a symphony of nutrients, such as vitamin C, zinc, B vitamins and more. Americans are overfed and undernourished. Research estimates that 90% have nutrient deficiencies. Our food is mineral depleted, and many people have digestive issues that impair nutrient absorption. Intravenous nutrient therapy provides quick benefit for disease treatment and prevention, as well as improved energy production and longevity.
THE FOLLOWING IVS ARE AVAILABLE AT MINDBODY MEDICINE CENTER:
Originally called the Meyer’s Cocktail, this enhanced version is the backbone of IV nutrient therapy as it replenishes key vitamins and minerals that are deficient in most patients, especially the elderly and anyone with digestive complaints (food sensitivities, Candida, heartburn, reflux, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome and more)
Benefits can be dramatic and include calm feeling and muscle relaxation for tension headaches, low back pain, etc.

Approximately 1.8 trillion immune cells patrol the complex inner world of your body to protect you from disease. This internal army is made up of white blood cells (leukocytes), which include lymphocytes (B cells and T cells), macrophages, cytotoxic T-cells, natural killer cells, mast cells. Immune cells recognize and kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. Natural killer cells and cytotoxic T cells can recognize damaged cells and cancer cells and destroy them. Basically, you have been curing cancer every day of your life. Immune cells can also recognize, tag and destroy senescent (old) cells in the body so the molecular parts can be recycled to make new cells. This key process is called autophagy. Inflammation is a vital part of the immune system’s response to invasive microbes as well as damaged cells, and toxic chemicals.
The immune system is weakened by:
- Toxins such as xylene, benzene, and styrene found in 100% of people tested
- Glyphosate (RoundUp) found in 80% of people tested
- Lead and aluminum found in all Americans
- EMF and Wi-fi exposure in excess
- Stress and worry are potent immune suppressors
Basically, as we age the immune system also ages and we become more vulnerable to
infections, poor wound healing, cancer and other chronic diseases.

- Vitamin C
- Magnesium, zinc and other minerals
- B vitamins

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, or NAD, is the molecule that transports volatile hydrogen in the mitochondria so it can combine with oxygen, thus creating adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, the cellular energy source for every bodily function and more than a thousand metabolic reactions in the organs and tissues. The heart uses the most NAD as it beats around 86,000 times daily. The brain consumes about one-third of all the energy produced by the body. Often an energy deficiency is first detected in the brain with poor concentration, difficulty focusing, and attention deficit. If the energy shortage lasts long enough, brain neurons cannot synthesize neurotransmitters, the molecules of consciousness, such as serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline, and we experience anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance and other mood changes.
Unfortunately, NAD levels decline with age and this loss of cellular energy is believed to be a root cause for most chronic diseases.
NAD functions in the body:
- Increases energy in heart cells
- Increases energy in brain cells
- Protects and repairs DNA, reducing DNA mutations which contribute to atherosclerosis, cancer, immunodeficiency, rheumatoid arthritis, and much more
- The “most powerful antioxidant” in the body according to Dr. Richard Passwater in his book NADH-The Energizing Coenzyme
- Lowers cholesterol
- Lowers blood pressure
- Strengthens the immune system
- Stimulates production of dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline, thereby improving moods
- Stimulates nitric oxide production, thereby improving blood flow in the body
At MindBody Medicine Center we use a powerful, proprietary form of NAD for IV therapy as well as other clinical applications.
IV NAD dosage is variable depending on individual need.
High dose IV vitamin C has been used to treat cancer since Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling introduced the treatment in the 1960s. Drs Cameron and Pauling found that vitamin C helped advanced cancer patients live about four times longer than cancer patients not given vitamin C. Vitamin C is structurally like glucose and is quickly taken up by sugar hungry cancer cells. When vitamin C is given intravenously at levels greater than 50 grams, it shifts from antioxidant to oxidant by generating hydrogen peroxide, a powerful molecule containing two oxygen atoms and two hydrogen atoms, or H2O2 (water is H2O, with one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms). Our immune cells create hydrogen peroxide and use the oxidizing effect of free oxygen to destroy harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi and cancer cells.
IV vitamin C dosages
- 25 grams
- 50 grams
- 75 grams
Treatment time: 3 4 hours
Warning: Before giving IV vitamin C greater than 15 grams G6PD blood testing is required to avoid hemolytic anemia in susceptible patients. . G6PD deficiency is a genetic disorder and is most common in males, and about 1 in 10 African American males in the United States have it. The primary function of G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) is to protect red blood cells from damage by producing NADPH within the cell. Triggers include infections, stress, fava beans, aspirin, and other drugs.
Medical research has shown that high dose vitamin C is effective in treating Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) which is a common viral infection that spreads through saliva and body fluids. Once infected the virus stays in the body for a lifetime in a dormant state. However, when the immune system is weakened by stress or toxins, the virus can reappear and lead to infectious mononucleosis. EBV is often associated with common fatigue as well as chronic fatigue syndrome. Studies have shown that people infected with a virus usually lack vitamin C.
More recently, high-dose vitamin C infusions have been used by researchers to treat COVID-19 infections, achieving good results.

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is one of the most effective antioxidants and it is the only antioxidant known to easily enter the brain and nervous system. It protects nerve tissues from damage caused by oxidative stress, which is a contributing factor to neuropathy in conditions like diabetes. ALA will help to reduce pain, numbness, and tingling commonly found in the legs. It has multiple functions as well, including regenerating glutathione, recycling CoQ10, stimulating immune T cell activity and reducing insulin resistance. It also modifies gene expression to reduce inflammation. It is considered a safe and well tolerated chelating agent for heavy metals including lead and mercury. However, EDTA and DMSA are more potent for chelation therapy.
IV ALA is an effective treatment for:
- peripheral neuropathy, commonly related to ageing
- diabetic neuropathy
- Hepatitis C
Alpha lipoic acid combined with low dose naltrexone (LDN) is useful for:
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (Lupus)
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Dermatomyositis
- Autoimmune disease
- Cancer

NAD transports volatile hydrogen in the mitochondria in order to combine with oxygen to make adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, which is the fuel for every organ in the body. Digestion, liver detoxification, immunity and more depend on ATP. The brain uses high levels of ATP to birth consciousness. NAD regulates energy metabolism, DNA damage repair, gene expression, and stress response. Unfortunately, NAD levels decline with age and this loss of cellular energy is believed to be a root cause for most chronic diseases.

Your brain is estimated to have 80 to 100 billion nerve cells, which are called neurons. Each neuron has a thousand synapses (tiny spaces) that connect to thousands of other neurons. Neurotransmitters are the chemical messengers that jump across the synapses carrying key information that coordinates life and function in your body. Serotonin, dopamine, glutamate and acetylcholine are well known neurotransmitters but there are over 60 different types in the human brain.
Neurotransmitters sparking across synapses at lightning speed allow you to think, feel emotions, create memories, move about during your day and give you sleep when you are tired. They control your heartbeat, breathing , digestion and immune system.
Neurotransmitters are synthesized from vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.
Low neurotransmitters have been associated with the following medical conditions:
Depression, Anxiety Attention deficit disorder
Attention deficit disorder Increased infections
Migraine headache Fibromyalgia
Chronic pain Insomnia
Diabetes Heart disease
Sleep apnea Impaired immune response
Contains:
- Amino acids
- Vitamins
- Minerals
Treatment time: 2 hours
IV NAD and amino acids based on individually designed protocols are given for 10 consecutive days by our medical staff. The IV NAD and amino acids improve brain function based on higher levels of cellular energy production along with increased neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, dopamine, adrenaline and GABA. There are some withdrawal symptoms for two or three days, but they are reduced by 70 to 80% when compared to “cold turkey” withdrawal. After three to five days withdrawal symptoms and craving subside, and clarity of thought is restored.
During the 10-day program an integrative medical evaluation explores the biological basis for fatigue, anxiety, depression, reduced pain tolerance, poor focus and more. These common underlying conditions are treated which reduces the chance of relapse.

Vitamin B12 is essential for healthy blood, brain, and DNA. Vitamin B 12 has the largest and most complex chemical structure of all the vitamins. It contains cobalt and is therefore also called cobalamin.
Vitamin B12 is essential for the following:
- Healthy red blood cells
- Regenerating nerve fibers and repairing nerve damage.
- Myelin production (the protective sheath that surrounds nerve fibers)
- Nerve cell survival
- DNA production
Vitamin B12 helps the brain and nervous system function thereby helping us to think and move. It prevents anemia and boosts protein metabolism .
Symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include:
- Fatigue and lack of energy
- Numbness and tingling, especially in the hands and feet
- Sore mouth or tongue – tongue can become red
- Muscle weakness
- Vision disturbances, such as double vision.
- Poor memory and confusion
- Poor sleep
- Increased risk of cognitive impairment
- Increased risk of depression
- Anemia, which can cause fatigue, shortness of breath, and an irregular heartbeat
- Temporary infertility
Multiple sclerosis (MS) and vitamin B12 deficiency may cause similar neurological symptoms, such as numbness, tingling, vision loss, difficulty walking or speaking, and cognitive dysfunction. MS patients often feel better following IV vitamin B12.

Glutathione (GSH) is found in every cell of your body and does the following life sustaining functions:
- Most important and abundant antioxidant inside all the cells of the body
- Essential for the immune system to fight infections and kill cancer cells,
- Essential to detoxifying chemicals and heavy metals and removing them from the body.
- Essential in maintaining cellular energy (ATP) production/li>
- Protects DNA and other essential body proteins because it reduces oxidative damage>
- Liver has the most GSH,where it is part of the P450 detoxification pathways.
- Glutathione is the major intracellular defense against mercury toxicity.
- Glutathione reduces inflammation
The following conditions are associated with glutathione depletion:
asthma Parkinson’s disease
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Alzheimer’s disease
autoimmune diseases atherosclerosis
systemic lupus and rheumatoid arthritis diabetes
Schizophrenia bipolar disorder
Autism cancer
Chronic fatigue syndrome Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
GSH decline is associated with the ageing process and when cellular levels are fully depleted, the cell will die.
Research on 33 people over 60 years old showed that those with the highest GSH levels in their blood had fewer illnesses, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressures, and healthier weights than those with lower levels.

Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies Are Widespread In Americans
The HANES I and II Studies (Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) conducted by the Federal government in 1982 identified over 70% of the American population to be at risk for the clinical impact of long-term dietary deficiencies.
McCarron et al. JAMA, 275(14): 1128-29, 1996
More than 50% of Americans consume inadequate amounts of calcium, including people in all age, sex, and ethnic categories.
McCarron et al. JAMA, 275(14): 1128-29, 1996
The American average daily intake of folic acid is 242 mcg compared to the US recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of 400 mcg,1989
Subar, et al. Am J Clin Nutrition, 50: 508-16, 1989
The typical American diet provides only one-half to two-thirds of the RDA of 400 mg for magnesium
Seelig, M, Magnesium Deficiency in the Pathogenesis of Disease, NY, Plenum Press, 1980
4In summary, the available evidence supports the hypothesis that zinc deficiency is an important public health problem both internationally and domestically (zinc is required for every aspect of immune function).

American Farmland Is Mineral Deficient and So Are We
“99% of the American people are deficient in minerals, and a marked deficiency in any of these important minerals actually results in disease. Out physical well-being is more directly dependent upon the minerals we take into our systems than upon calories or vitamins, or upon precise proportions of starch, protein or carbohydrates we consume.
This discovery is one of the latest and most important contributions of science to the problem of human health. Most us today are suffering from certain dangerous diet deficiencies which cannot be remedied unto the depleted soils from which our foods come are brought into proper mineral balance. The alarming fact is that the foods – fruits, vegetables and grain, now being raised on millions of acres of land that no longer contains enough of certain needed minerals are starving us – no matter how much of them we eat!”

Chronic Stress Causes Nutrient Deficiency
In 1979, three Nobel laureates working with Hans Selye discovered the following:
- Chronic stress causes vitamin deficiencies in the body
- The severity of the deficiency correlated with the severity of the stress.
- When nutrients are restored to the body, people can manage stress more effectively.
Nutritional Deficiencies and Diseases
Inadequate intakes of vitamins and minerals from food are widespread (e.g. in the U.S.: 56% for magnesium; 12% for zinc; 16% menstruating women for iron; 16% of women for folate) and can lead to DNA damage, mitochondrial decay, and other pathologies.
An optimum intake of micronutrients and metabolites, which varies with age and genetics, should tune up metabolism and markedly increase health at little cost, particularly for the poor, obese, and elderly.
Ames, Bruce. Adequate micronutrient nutrition to delay the degenerative Diseases of aging,
Am. J Clin Nutrition, in press
“You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency,” Dr. Linus Pauling, Stanford University; winner of two Nobel Prizes.
Nutritional Deficiencies and “not Feeling Well”
“Marginal vitamin deficiency is a middle ground between adequate nutritional status and the point at which frank deficiency disease symptoms develop”
Because there are no specific symptoms, this intermediate stage of depletion is frequently not apparent. In lay terms, it may be just the difference between feeling “at one’s best” and feeling “under the weather.”
“Marginal deficiency . . . may affect the body’s ability to resist disease and infection, its ability to recover from surgery, stress or disease, the ability of the brain to function at a higher level and, in general, the optimal development and efficient function of the total person.”
The Kellogg Report: The Impact of Nutrition, Environment & Lifestyle on the
Health of Americans. JD Beardsley, et al Annandale-On-Hudson, NY 1989
“Marginal nutrient deficiencies are widespread and can cause a variety of nonspecific symptoms while they weaken the body’s defense against serious illnesses”
Thurnham, DJ. Proc Nutr Soc 40:155-63, 1981
Nutritional Supplements Are Safe
Many critics of nutritional supplements claim that they have not been proven to be safe in rigorous double-blind placebo-controlled studies like those required to prove drug safety. The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA), outlines the documented safety records of supplements, refuting the contention that dietary supplements should meet the same guidelines as pharmaceutical drugs.
According to data from the 2002 Poison Control Center database on the risk of death from various sources in the USA:
- Dietary supplements: 0.001%
- Honeybee stings: 0.008%
- Lightning: 0.0041%
- Firearms accidents: o.079%
- Motor vehicle accidents: 2.20%
- Alcohol: 4.49%
- Properly prescribed & Used Drugs: 5.18%
- Smoking: 7.19%
- Cancer: 22.11%
- Cardiovascular disease: 47%.
